Other information and facts

Albrecht of Waldstein The exhibition Albrecht of Waldstein and His Era ended on Sunday March 2, 2008. Almost 150.000 people in total had visited the exhibition during its 109 opening days. The average number of visitors had reached more than 1.350 per day. The exhibition on Duke Albrecht and his days thus belongs among the most successful exhibition projects by attendance since 1989.
The exhibition has met with an extraordinary response with both professional and non-professional public and has become educational material about the Thirty Years’ War for primary and secondary schools. It has altered the public knowledge of the first decades of the 17th century and the exceptional and controversial personality of Duke Albrecht of Waldstein.
”The exhibition has exceeded our expectations, the extraordinary public interest and favourable response from experts show that we found a good topic and approached it in interesting and arresting manner.” said the President of the Senate Přemysl Sobotka.
The exhibition was prepared during an extremely short period of 18 months by the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic, the Military Historical Institute and the National Museum. Embassies of Austria, Sweden, Italy and Germany also closely cooperated. Waldstein’s towns of Frýdlant, Jičín, Cheb and Mnichovo Hradiště and many Czech and foreign museum institutions also participated in the exhibition.
