The Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic is a constitutional institution who, together with the Chamber of Deputies, executes the legislative power. Thus, it fulfils the powers vested in it by the Constitution of the Czech Republic and other laws. Senators, together with Deputies, elect the President of the Czech Republic. The upper chamber also approves the appointment of judges of the Constitutional Court by the President of the Czech Republic.
Senators would like to contribute to cultivation of the Czech political scene by competent and decent discussions.

Dear citizens,
let me welcome you to the official website of the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic. I believe that you will be able to find information on debated bills and European legislation as well as answers to your questions regarding other activities of the upper chamber and its members. You will also find here the programme of cultural and social events, conferences and seminars. The Senate organizes plenty of such events for the public and I would like to invite you to participate.

The Senate Chancellery has been created by the Law on the Seat of the Parliament of the Czech Republic to provide professional, organisational and technical service for the activities of the Senate, its bodies, senators and caucuses.
The Senate Chancellery is managed by the Secretary General who represents the Chancellery outwards and is responsible for the functioning of the whole institution.
The Senate Chancellery is divided into two sectors - the Senate Sector and the Financial and Administrative Sector.
